I wasn't looking for a wine flask. Now I own three.

I don't impulse buy.

I'm 48 and I don't impulse-buy. I've bought enough things I only half-liked to know the difference between wanting something and wanting it in my life.

A friend brought one of these to an afternoon on the water. She poured me a glass of wine that was still cold three hours into the sun, out of a flask shaped like nothing I'd seen. Holds a whole bottle of wine. 750ml. You're pouring for the table, not rationing.
Two magnetic cups. One on top, one on the bottom. They click on and off. No screwing a lid around and around.

It was the color that got me when I saw it. A deep navy they call Amalfi Blue, and there was Lucy on the side of it.

The box arrived a few days later.

It arrives in a box that feels like it was packed by someone who cared. I'm not going to pretend that doesn't matter, because it does.

It felt like I was getting a gift.

Actually, it really is the perfect gift.

A friend turned 50 this spring. I'd been carrying mine around all summer and she kept commenting on it, so the gift chose itself.
