Margaritas Three Ways

Margaritas Skinny, Spicy & Sweet

Margaritas are arguably our favorite drinks to mix up for our traditional Friday night happy hour, and while we can all agree on the basics, these three variations have set the bar (pun intended) pretty high for those after-work hangouts.

We come to this tradition by way of discovering 21 Seeds a wonderful, women-owned maker of artisanal, fruit-infused tequilas. As a women-owned small business, we are all about supporting other women in their endeavors, and these gals make some delicious drinking concoctions that are naturally low-calorie, fresh tasting, and very approachable. Naturally, we had to try them all.

It seems someone is always trying to eat (and drink) healthier around here, so first up is the Skinny Margarita. Easy, easy, easy, and with a lot less sugar, but be warned! These are T-A-R-T! Rimmed with coarse salt and a fresh lime they will make you pucker right up. To be honest the recipes below all cut the sweetness & calories down using light agave nectar (we prefer the taste), so no need to feel any guilt while you're sipping away, but you may need to add a bit more or less to suit your tastes.

Personal favorite? The fiery version with the flavor of cucumbers and sliced jalapenos, and some Tajin spice blend on the rim. Hot, slightly sweet, and sour makes a darn fine drink.

The grapefruit and hibiscus flower is a new addition, bringing a fresh taste of watermelon, grapefruit and the scent of hibiscus to our new favorite cocktail. The addition of watermelon comes straight from the 21 Seeds playbook, with the addition of some lemon and a sugar rim, and it's heaven.

Try a few of these concoctions we're loving, and we think you'll be hooked. Then head over and show these ladies some love!
